Jim Gordon is the Founder and Managing Partner of Edgewater Growth Capital Partners.

Prior to forming Edgewater, Jim was President of Gordon Foods, Inc. and Gordon’s Wholesale, Inc. In 1982, Jim engineered a leveraged buy-out of his personal and family interests in The Gordon Companies and in 1986 sold the company to a European multinational corporation. Prior to forming EGCP I, Jim was an active private equity investor. Since 1982, Jim has completed over 200 private equity transactions.

Jim serves on the boards of directors of numerous Edgewater portfolio companies and serves or has served on many other public and private company boards. Jim also serves on the boards of The Whitney Museum of American Art as Chair of the Investment Committee, The Art Institute of Chicago as the Board of Trustees and the Investment Committee, The Chicago Museum of Contemporary Art on the Executive Committee of the Board and the Investment Committee, Northwestern Memorial Foundation Board of Directors and the Investment Committee, the Joffrey Ballet Board, the Museum of Science and Industry of Chicago Board of Trustees and the Investment Committee, Chicago Cares, the Commercial Club and the Big Shoulders Fund on both the Board of Directors and the Executive Committee. He has also served on the boards of Grinnell College as head of the Investment Committee, John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, Bankers Trust Company, Methodist Medical Centers, and the Des Moines Art Center where he served as President.
